British Columbia Rendezvous 2016
Stoney Lake Lodge, BC
October 20-23, 2016
Please join us for the IWFF Rendezvous at Stoney Lake Lodge on the Douglas Lake Ranch in the interior of British Columbia. We will fish for 3-5 pound rainbows using dry flies, leeches, chironomids, damsels and scuds. Come and enjoy world class fly fishing on the largest cattle ranch in British Columbia.
WHEN: October 20-23, 2016 (3 nights)
WHERE: Stoney Lake Lodge on Douglas Lake Ranch (www.douglaslake.com/stoney.html) in British Columbia
COST: $250 (Canadian) per person per day. Everything is included but your BC fishing license and alcohol purchased on site. Check out the value of the Canadian Dollar vs the US Dollar – a great deal for those with US dollars. Double occupancy accommodations for 15 people–spacious rooms with 2 queen sized beds and en suite bathrooms. 50% deposit needed by May 30th to confirm participation. And watch the relative value of the dollar!
FISHING: Still waters fly fishing is a challenge to master. Casting chironomids to sited fish is a huge thrill. Stripping leeches or hand twisting damsel flies to entice trout can transfix you for hours. If you find casting for long periods of time tiring, troll a fly and watch a string of horses or a flock of geese. Your payment includes the use of a boat (two people per boat) at no extra cost. Fishing guides are available to increase your skill set but must be booked in advance for an additional fee.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: Brian Chan, expert Still Waters enthusiast is available to talk with participants about entomology, water temperatures, fly selection and lake biology. The first evening will include a fly exchange among participants. Brent Gill, Recreation Manager of the Ranch will be available to answer any questions about use of the ranch. Fly Fishing books recently produced by the Kalamalka Fly Fishers will be given to each participant; they include information, photos and fly tying recipes for flies that work in the interior of BC. Vises available onsite for demonstrations and lessons.
REGISTRATION: $25.00 US nonrefundable fee paid online to IWFF. After the event organizer confirms your registration, you can then make your accommodation arrangements directly with Stoney Lake Lodge, Douglas Lake Ranch. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
DIRECTIONS: Kamloops BC has the closest airport which is 1 hour from the ranch. Route flights through Vancouver, BC and take West Jet or Air Canada to Kamloops BC. Check with the ranch for possible shuttle services. Driving time is 4 hours from the Vancouver International Airport or 1 hour from the Kamloops Airport.
